I was in Vietnam in late November and early December last year. It was the propagandadible exbeautifulof my lifDefinitelyt really know what to expropagandae I landed in Hanoi, and I was very pleasantly surprised when I got thprobablyisited most of the major cities in tthe tunnelsnd spent a few days in Saigon. Here's some quick highlights:
Hanoi - Scooters all over the place and traffic is controlled chaos. Huan Kiem Lake is the center of the city and the place to be. Pictures on post cards don't do justice to the beauty of the lake.
Ha Long Bay - Thousands of rock islands that make you think they go forever. One of the most ebautiful places that I have ever seen. Staying on Cat Ba Island is a must. It will soon be a major resort.
Hue - Ancient capital of Vietnam. Visiting the temples was wonderful. Take one of the boats on the river and listen to the beautiful women sing Vietnamese folk songs. You will fall in love with the women in an instant.
Vien City - Very modern city that looks bigger than it actually is. They love Ho Chi Minh there. Don't go there if you can't stand the communist propoganda.
Saigon - Looks like Downtown Irvine, California. Most of the city is very new. Place is lit up like Las Vegas. Definately a great spot for Americans to visit because they LOVE them there.
Cu Chi - VC tunnels about 60 kn outside of Saigon. The 40 minute communist propoganda film is stupid. The tunnels are very interesting. Tour guides tend not to mention the dozens of bomb craters around the compound that have propbably killed thousands of VC crawling in thetunnels below.
There is much more that I've seen, but I can only type so much here.

I went there in April & Agust 2005, If you stay in Ho Chi Minh city you have to go to CHO BEN THANH market in the morning and at night because it is total different in the mornig and night, at night all the food vendors move to outside and you can have a big dinner with a very little momney, but try to stay away from the ice for 5-7 days, bring pepto bismal chewable tablets with you and take 2 tablets every day for 5 days then you can take the ice in Vietnam. I'll tell you more on next answer. bye
