Trip To Hanoi and Saigon, Vietnam in January.? |
I am planning a trip to Saigon and Hanoi in January. Can anybody recommendnd me where to stay longer and which of these two cities has more attractions and sightseeings to be visited. As well if anyone can give me any travelling tips for this region it woul be great. |

I spent 4 years based in Hanoi and loved it! I favor Hanoi - and have only spend a couple of days in HCMC - so keep that in mind.
You don't say how long you will be there, or what your interests are.
Sapa is an overnight train trip and 2 hour or so bus ride so check it out on the internet. I recommend it! It will probably be cold then though, so be prepared.
Actually Hanoi can be cold in January - or hot and humid. It depends. So come prepared for cold weather and hot weather - but expect things to be cool at best, and cold at worst.
Many museums, the old quarter, tuong theater, the water puppets, and many, many things to see and do.
Bat Trang pottery village is a short taxi ride outside of town - or a very, very cheap bus ride if you can figure out which bus and where to catch it.

I agree-I lived in HCMC and hated it. Hanoi is much more beautiful.
But it depends - if you´re more the party/shopping guy, you´d love HCMC.
For sight-seeing Hanoi is nicer - museum, water puppets, day trip to Halong Bay, a world heritage site, 3-day trip to SApa, minorities living up in the Mountains, ...beautiful country side.
BUT: Hanoi is cold in January! Around 15 degrees Celsius or less, so no summer weather.

bong sen in saigon(ho chin minh city) best place to go to the markets there to get coths..good brands and hanoi does other things like objects..saigon is good for cloths.
hanoi, platnium 2 is a good hotel..close to everything. |

if u go to hcmc stay in dist 1, you find many travel agencies so go n do some research where u want to visit, in hcmc i did not find many interesting places, buy or barroe travel guide, lonely planet , budget travel n read, good tips, where to travel, how much n lot more. sory i m planning to go to han oi next time so i skip advising u on that. enjoy ur stay. |
