You will most likely need a visa and in order to get a visa, YOU WILL NEED A PASSPORT !!!! No way around it !!! As you know, you can not get a US passport and the Vietnamese feel you have chosen to give up your citizenship of Viet Nam and probably would not issue you a Vietnamese passport. You will need to start the process to get naturalized in the US. Until then, travel out of and re-entry to, the US as far as I am aware, will not be permitted. My wife is Vietnamese and I have traveled extensively out of the US, mostly to SEA to include Viet Nam during 1968-70 and after in '94, '96' and '98. There is a lot of information on-line from USCIS and from organizations in the Vietnamese community. As you move through the process, be careful, as many Vietnamese organizations have a tendency to, "oversell" you on what you actually need and to encourage the use of lawyers. My wife and I did it with only a book, some money, a computer and patience. |
