Hi,

In general one of the other posters is right unfortunately, the majority of people know very little about your country beyone the Vietnam War.

Persoanlly having backpacked through Vietnam I LOVE it!!! Beautiful scenery, great/surprising/fun culture and amazing, friendly people. What more can anyone ask for?

General view.
We know very little about Vietnam. We mainly only know the US propaganda about Vietnam. We know some clothing etc. comes from there. Also the US trainer shoe companies have them made in Vietnam as it a low cost country.

Personal view.
We have been to Vietnam on holiday - Hanoi/Hanlon Bay/Hue/Dar Nang/Hoi An/Saigon.
We found it a beautiful country. We learnt and understood the full real story behind the 30 year Vietnam War and the lies from the US. We found you all gentle peaceful people trying to repair the huge damage done to your country by the US and your own rulers. Our trip to the War Museum in Saigon (including seeing the damage done to generations of children by spraying the country with the Orange antifoliant) left us feeling very shocked/sad/angry!

Please do not become to dependant on tourism, it is not - in the long term - good for your country as most of the money spent ends up outside the country.

I personally loved the place and lived there for many years . I lived in Saigon , Vung Tau , Nha Trang and travelled extensively . I met a lot of fellow English and they all loved the place . The English were not caught in the American propaganda machine and we knew the true story .

hello long ,do you mean farang or white or only english, I am from Scotland and hope to travel to vietnam as my friends in Thailand where I live tell me your country is very friendly and welcoming, but the past is in the past and the future to come I think it is the people of all countries that make the present and you will find it is the person inside that matters ,all my friends who have been on holiday says that vietnam is great and I cant wait to go as I had never been to thailand and have stayed here 2 years the world would be a better place if it opened up its heart , yours TOM

Most of us have nothing Against Vietnamese or vietnam, Except for some people in the USA who dont like Vietnam because some of them are Communist, and Since they dont understand communism, they dont like it.
