Not knowing what "YOUR" generation is, I think I can still safely say there are lots of popular Vietnamese singers - from all age groups. I go into the bookstores / cd shops in Ha Noi and there are rows and rows of CDs. I get on the buses and usually there is popular music from a radio broadcast or CD. I ask my VN friends about their favorite singers, and so far no one has told me that there are none. My friends are from their 20s to their 70s, so that is a pretty broad selection. I have only bought one CD that I didn't like - a very popular VN singer who was singing opera - not to my taste thank you!
I think that My Linh is a safe start.
