To me, the most attractive is Ancient Royal City in Hue. It is most unique and recognized by UNESCO as the World Heritage.
There are a lots of other tourist attraction in Vietnam, depends on what you're looking for? You may check the place of interest in the source link provided below and have fun and enjoy the place that suit your taste. |

It depends on where you are arriving, how long you are going to stay, and what you like to do.
Someone coming to Ha Noi, I recommend spending time in the old town. Check out the water puppets and Tuong (traditional theatre). Do a trip to Sapa (overnight train and 1 hour bus ride). A trip to Bat Trang - the nearby pottery village. |

thats certainly debatable; but i'd say "ha long bay",for forgieners and ho chi minh tomb for vietnamese....but where ever you go make sure you get up and out on the street by 4:30 am at least a cpl of times.. thats when viet nam comes alive and IS A MUST DO ! must see; nha trang and hoi an, 2 best places for 1st time tourists... |

Most famous tourist attraction is probably the DMZ where the American war vets and touristy tours leave from Hue (pronounce "hway"). Hue is nice, but the DMZ tours ("Pile of Rocks" etc) are kind of boring and depressing unless you're on a personal war interest mission. I skip it. Stick with The Citadel, Pagodas and Emperors' Tombs in Hue - really enchanting.
South Vietnam's mountainous coast line is incredibly beautiful. Catch a train between Danang and Hue - make sure you get seats in 1st class on the coastal side of the train - and be gobsmacked.

If you're into kite surfing and boarding mega-fun, stay at Mui Ne Beach!!! It's great. Just make sure you don't stay at the south end of the beach where the new flashy hotels are because there's stinky drain outlets through the sand. The in-the-know people stay further up the beach in bungalows where it's cleaner:

Saigon (known as Ho Chi Minh City) is worth it for a bit of sightseeing. The Fine Arts Museum is in a gorgeous building with some very moving artworks about people living through the war and many beautiful relics

Stay in District 1 of Saigon which is full of very nicely restored colonial Old Saigon buildings and is as cosmopolitan as you get. The Museum of Vietnamese History is good too and there are nicely maintained parks to walk around in full of sculptures and locals socialising and exercising. The old cathedral and postal office are lovely too. I really like Saigon and would even live there.
The best thing about Saigon is you can get around everywhere so cheaply and fast in the many modern metered taxis (ask them to turn the meter on every time). Don't be embarrassed to even catch a taxi across the road - you'll know what I mean when you get there! :D

Each region has its own 'famous' attraction and I can't say which is better 'cuz it's unique. Here are a few.
+ Ha Noi: the old town, it's not how it was centuries ago but you can definitely feel the charm.
+ Hai Phong: Ha Long Bay - best for summer when it's not cold and foggy.
+Quang Nam: Phong Nha underwater cave, this is the newest attraction, it's still fresh no not too overcrowded with tourist.
+ Hue: definitely the forbiden city. Make you feel like you're in some old Chinese kung-fu movie. Very nice for pictures.
+ Hoi An: even though it's a little town but worth the time. This town make fabric lanterns and light them all up at night. Also have seamtress to make your outfit while you browse the town - cheaper than Saigon.
+ You can skip Da Lat - it's not as natural as it used to be.
+ Saigon: FOOD!! this is the place to eat and please your taste bud. Don't bother with sightseeing.
Have fun! |
