Bring good, light weight raingear. The monsoon season has already started so it will rain everyday. Because the humidity is so high, nothing ever really dries out so bring lots and lots of athletic socks. Vietnamese people generally wear sandals, not shoes, so good socks can be challenging to find.
Be aware that the mud in Vietnam is as slippery as oil when it gets wet (at least where I live). Wear light weight hiking boots with good tread. Water proof them before you arrive.
Prices have risen recently. Basic food and water will cost around ten dollars (us) per day per person. I haven't stayed in a hotel in a long time, but twenty dollars a night should get you a decent room anywhere.
Unless one of your group is Vietnamese and speaks with a Viet accent, you will have to haggle over the price of everything or risk paying the "foreigner" tax. lol
Bring sunscreen, a hat and bug repellent, because even though it rains every day, the sun will still come out long enough to cook you and the bugs never lose their appetite.
Charities are best contacted by either talking to your church or googling them. There are way to many to list.
Sorry I won't be here in June, I've got to return to the states for a few months of work.
Enjoy your trip. |

Take a trip to Sapa and Ha Long Bay while in Hanoi, take the train down through stop at Na Trang for a few days. Then head for Ho Chi Minh the Cu Chi tunnels and the Mekong Delta that should keep you happy, if not there is always somewhere else to see.
