Whatever you decide to buy, do not go to "Cho Ben Thanh" in Sai Gon. They are known for ripping off tourists. |

Go to Ben Thanh Market and you will see about a million different things in every price range.
I usually bring back a case of Tiger beer and a case of Saigon beer for my guy friends, Silk scarfs or carved wood knick knacks for the girls and of course T-shirts for either.
My American daughters get one expensive item each, jewelery, crocodile handbags etc. |

right off i'll tell you what NOT to buy . that would be items made of wood. w/ the exception of the small $1 black laquer boxes almost anything wood i've ever bought there has broken once i got it home.
ladies handbags come in all prices and are beautifull. small inexpensive dolls are also nice .. my guys like the "t" shirts and hats i bring home. i even have people who just want the beautifull post cards they sell., paintings on silk look very nice at home once they are framed and the embroidered art comes in a wide variety of styles and qualities... you'll get what you pay for there. |
