whats the best plan for 10 days in october?
i was thinking, hanoi, and then hoi an and thats it,
becuase we dont want to travel to much more of a relaxing cultural time. which is the best resorts/hotels? and is the cui dai beach nice?

Yes, after a few days in Hanoi (there are lakes, templates, gardens, foods here for relaxing purpose), Sapa is a good place for relax. Hoi An is also a good cultural place. However, Hoi An is actually near Nha Trang which is the most beautiful beach I believe. But you will need to take a flight from Hanoi to Nha Trang. I'm sure what should be the best for you. |

I would be inclined to spend a few days in Ha Noi, then take the overnight train to Lao Cai and the bus up to Sapa. Sapa is really interesting, and I think the weather will still be ok in October (check on the internet, I may be wrong!). Sapa is an overnight train to and from Lao Cai. Then down to Hoi An. |
