I would say Chà o will do the trick. It's nice to say the whole thing like the girl above me, but seriously... Chà o is good enough.

In Vietnamese, they just say "Chà o" and then add the word for the addressee.
For example: Chà o ông, Chà o bà , Chà o bác, Chà o cáºu, Chà o cô, Chà o dì, Chà o anh, Chà o chị , etc.
They do not use any words to show the different times of the day like morning, afternoon, or evening as in English.
Thus, for "hello", "good morning" and "good afternoon", they all use the formula as said above. The problem then is how to determine the correct word for the addressee. And it is decided by the ages/gender of the speakers.
E.g. A 10 yrs old child will say to a 60 yrs old man : "Chà o ông", but a 55 yrs old woman may address this same man by: "Chà o anh"
"Welcome" as in "you're welcome" can be equivalent to "Không có gì" , and this phrase can be accompanied with a smile.
