There is rock (Buc Tuong, Microwave...) rap (Tien Dat), hip hop (Vietdreamerz, Kim jojo, Lil Knight, Phuong Anh, CaChep...) boybands ( azn, mtv...) , girlsband (MOM, Lo Lem, HAT) cheesy pop (Ung Hoang Phuc, Lam Truong, My Tam, Ho Ngoc Ha, Thuy Thuy, Quang Vinh) , indie pop (Luu Huong Giang, Thu Minh, Bao Thy ) or cheesier popular music (Dam Vinh Hung, Dan Truong... ). Unfortunately, Vietnamese music scene is not very popular at a regional scale and you should have a knowledge in Vietnamese to find a decentcontemprorary song. Remember mainland Vietnam and Amercan Vietnamese music scenes are differents. |

Vietnamese music generally is soft and romantic. However, there are some young singers came out with a newer style of music. If you watch Thuy Nga Video, you'll see a young 17 years old singer and song writer who plays guitar and he really rocks. I think he's very talented. He writes music in English tho' so I don't know if that what you like. His name is Adam Ho
I personally prefer Vietnamese romantic songs. It says more about our people, and our culture. If I want to listen to rock, I'd listen to British rock, German and American. |

Some VN romanticy songs are slow, and some songs for dancing (ball room) you should buy CD and tell them you want to buy VN music for dancing, I have some from Saigon shops |
