I am anti-communism and before I read about HCM or uncle Ho, I thought that he was a very very bad guy, just like Lenin and Hitler till I read about his life!!! After reading about him, I realised that he is not a bad guy after all. He was trying to promote communism but he is not a bad guy! He vetoed the construction of a small museum on his life at his home village, arguing that the funds could be better employed in building a school. He is an unassuming man, who notably shunned the comforts and trapping of power!!! All these are written by an American!!! Do read up about his life!!!

It really just depends on your point of view. And... the time frame you are talking about. A superior leader of his country pushed into long term decisions during the collapse of the colonization trends that had been prevalent for so long. All in all a good administrator that was forced into hard choices to consolidate the government of the Vietnamese.

If you are anti communist you hate him.
If you are communist you love Uncle Ho.
Realistically he did remarkably well with limited resources.

He is absolutely NOT. Very kind person with a warm heart, caring to people. His vision and what he did made him a big man, too.

No, if you studied US and Vietnam war history, you will find out that Ho Chi Minh tried to ask for help from US first. US didn't support Vietnam because it allied with French and French was kicked *** out of Vietnam at DienBienPhu battle. HoChiMinh had to joint with Soviet Union.
I think He was a good guy to find help from Western countries and end up with Communist.
The bad Vietnamese leaders are those whose lead Vietnam after 1975. They are all corruption and bloodsuckers to Vietnamese, yes their own people.

He is half bad (killer, raper,liar...) and half good (helped fight the French), and the leaders after 1975 were worse, such as Truong Chinh, Le Duan,...they are all disgusting.

yes, he's uneducated, raper, killer, etc......but as least he help kick the french out of vietnam thank to vietminh...
