What's the best place to eat in Ho Chi Minh City?

It may not be THE best food, but my favorite is Quan An Ngon, for those that aren't too familiar with Vietnamese food, it is a collection of the best street vendors in HCMC, sanitized and brought into an old French Villa where you can order a huge variety of foods in a great and fun atmosphere from about 20 different stalls for a very reasonable price. It's a good place to try if aren't too familiar with Vietnamese food and a good way to sample many of the dishes you might want to try later at other restaurants around town. It's always packed with locals and tourists, but definitely worth a try and a good way to introduce yourself to Vietnamese cuisine.

For me, I prefer "Ngon" restaurant. It is located right near the Reunification Palace and the prices are not too much higher than the usual price I have to pay each day.

i found that most fancy restaurants in VN were really disppointing. those hole in the wall places tasted alot better. but i was born in VN so i'm already immuned to most of the food there.

Quan An Ngon, cause they have lots of local food in 1 place..... and u can walk around the place to choose the food.. and some of their leading waiter and waitress have a good command of english... we even tried pointing to what ppl are having... cause on the menu, the way they write is not the same as what we think it might be... and they could be crowded in the night... and their dessert is a must try.... good luck
