1. If you glance at someone on the street and smile, they smile back, instead of looking at you like you're a pervert who is attempting to violate their personal space, as in the U.S.

2. Prices are almost too low. Why would an x-ray in the U.S. of A. cost hundreds of dollars, and cost only 2 or 3 dollars in Viet Nam? I'll tell you why: overwhelming greed. And the U.S. is still falling apart.

3. Here's something not good: the Vietnamese culture has yet to develop an environmental ethic to keep them from trashing the place up. Wrappers, whatever, go right out the car windows. In cities, where there are still streams, they're considered dump sites. This is countered by the fact that all urban streets are swept by hand every night, but it doesn't stop trash from accumulating in many areas.

4. I could go on for hours about all the nice things in Viet Nam.

Hey TRAVELLER - Happy Holidays to you!

What do I like about Vietnam...the attitude.

Vietnamese are an amazing people who have the ability to remember the past without dwelling there. They always look to the future with hope and excitement.

Pity my fellow Americans cannot follow that example.

Ok, other great things...

A hot bowl of Pho ga on a cold day in Hanoi.

Watching grandparents playing with the young children in the park.

Smiles, smiles and more smiles (all in need of a dentist but still...)

beautiful girls in Ao Dais with the sun behind them (ya gotta be here to understand that one...ever see an X-ray? :) )

What I don't like is traffic jams and people littering.

But let me tell you something, I came to Vietnam for one year to help a friend start his company.

SEVENTEEN YEARS LATER....I am still here and making a hell of a good living with a wonderful family and a lot of friends.

I have NO complaints!

smiles, great food, cheap prices, nice people, slow pace of life, cheap booze. (really cheap), miles of empty beachs. Girls.
and many more.

Plenty things I like.

Things I don't like: Pollution in the big cities, because constructions are everywhere, traffic jams, trucks also go on the same streets (in some streets) with cars and motobikes, trashes. And that's the only thing I don't like. But I believe in future it will get better. This is actually a problem for any developing country in the world. Hope the government will have some policies like penalties for throwing trashes on the streets like in Singapore, or there are big roads are being constructed mainly for the trucks.
