What about your experiences travelling in Vietnam? Tried Thanh Vinh Travel?
I recently traveled in Vietnam and had a great time. I know lots of other tourists that had bad experiences. Please tell me about your experiences. I used Thanh Vinh Travel and they treated me really well. Anybody else found a good travel agency for Vietnam?
My travel agent in 1967 was the U.S. Marine Corps. Even during the war, I thought it was a very beautiful country.
I was a Navy Corpsman (medic) assigned to the Marines. During the last 3 months I was stationed with a small group of Marines in a village near Hoi An. I met a lot of fine local people there.

I too first traveled in VN in 1967 - generally had pretty good luck back then (avoiding the problems that the unlucky had!).
I have been living in Ha Noi now for almost 4 years. I have had various agencies set up travel, I have gone myself to the train station or airlines office to get my own tickets, and have gone to Asia Wings (a very friendly, efficient travel agency) for my international travel (unless I go directly to Korean Airlines or Air Asia) and generally I have had nothing but good experiences. I have no complaints on any of the organizations I have worked with. I will never fly American airlines agian, and I generally don't like US carriers, but local service and bookings have been pretty good!!!!

I didn't travel with tourist agency, but I rent the mini van and visit well known places with my friends. I let my friends dealing with local people, restaurant and hotel. It saved me money and I could go any where I wanted to.
