As a tourist? lol
When i went back there with my family for the first time (for like 4 weeks) we spent most of our time in ho chi minh. Went on a tour around the central region (da nang, hue etc) with saigon tourist (i recommend). Nha trang has BEAUTIFUL beaches!! LOVE NHA TRANG. Plus that's where miss universe 2008 was held =)

Ooo and how can i forget. YOU EAT IN VIETNAM!!
and SHOP! Everything cheap in markets. If they can tell your from overseas (they can tell really easily even if you're vietnamese as well) they rip you off REAL good lol My mum told us to start at like half the price (sometimes a third or even less) then HAGGLE!!
HAve fun!!

When not working myself into an early grave, I play a lot of golf and enjoy raising my daughter.

I am like Izzy, when I'm in Vietnam, I work like a typical, poor Viet farmer. I spend as much time as possible with my wife and children and our family visits with friends and other family.
As far as tourism type things, We usually spend at least a weekend at the beach (Vung Tau or Nha Trang). You can do pretty much anything that you want to do in Vietnam with the exception of sky-diving. (there aren't but a couple of privately owned aircraft in the entire country.)
You can ride horses, rent surfboards, hike or camp the National Parks, shop till you drop and eat till you burst.
On my next trip, we plan on going to Can Tho to visit the floating market. I want to buy some peacocks for our farm:-)

Xin chao, eat, drink, meet people, enjoy. all very cheap and worth doing. You should research a bit so you can understand before you go.

Hanoi is facinating, old world, busy and exciting, watch out for the motor bikes, shopping is great, to chill out and get some old culture go to Hoi Ann have been there numerous times, you can sit at wonderfully cheap restaurants by the river all day and watch the traffic on the river, everything shuts early but that suits the area

Well it all depends on where you are going if its kind of in the poor country side playing with animals and there is a thing where you can even ride an ostrich and going around near the beach Vietnam has lots of beautiful nature and landscaping also they grow fruits and veggies are fun picking and eating the summer. If your in the big and wealthy citys in Vietnam you go swimmimng and they also have big waterslides to go on it is great in Vietnam too because they make everything cheap like a box of cereal is like 50 cents but america like $1.90 and they have a nice atmosphere around everything. The best places are Saigon has lots of cool places and fun people there to be it is one of the most pouplaur places in Vietnam also HaiNoi I don't know if it is spelled that way but it is the capital of Vietnam and most people say the best is Nha Trang it has the best Beach there to stay at :D
