Troi oi...where to start?
I have been living in Vietnam for 16 years. During this time I have seen some amazing changes in both economics and culture.
The Vietnamese are truly interesting people and they have one very admirable characteristic which more people in the West should adopt...
They focus on the future while remembering the past, but they don't "live in the past."
During the 16 years, nobody ever made me feel unwelcome or uncomfortable. Nobody ever displayed any "anti-American sentiments" to me or my friends.
They have been very supportive, incredibly inquisitive and very loyal as friends.
Maybe thats why I've stayed here that long....good people. |

they work hard their children respect them a lot and those children do a great work at school
Foreigners are really welcome to vnam
sometimes you can meet some vietnamese that arent honest or bloated,some tend to say something more that he really has. |

Vietnamese culture - long and interesting
Vietnamese food - very good for the most part (one or two notable exceptions!)
Vietnamese people - like people everywhere, some are nice, some are not, most of the Vietnamese I know are very honest (but some are very corrupt), I like the Vietnamese I know and have met - the only people I can think of that I don't like, that I really distrust, are not Vietnamese, although I know there are Vietnamese out there not to be trusted, I haven't met those folks yet.

I've heard of their horrific torture techniques from my father who was in the vietnam war. I watched a t.v. special about intricate underground cities some vietnamese people built and lived in during the war. I have not met many but I would love to learn about their culture. I think the dialect is beautiful to hear spoken aloud. |
