It is a wonderful country with fantastic places to see - Hue, Sapa , Hanoi, Saigon, Ha Long Bay . Fantastic food. The most beautiful women in the world. The hardest working guys I have met. Very welcoming to Americans (70% of the population was born after the Vietnam War (or as they call it "The American War"))
I lived there for three years. Loved it. I have visited 40 countries ; lived in eight. It is easily in the top three. |

Nice country. Vietnam is developing in all fields. Government is trying to fight corruption in their own systems. Seems very hard fight, but at least they try. Vietnamese is very poor at the urban area. They are very friendly with tourists. There are many attracting areas in VN now. From Delta Mekong to central area (Hue) and to Hanoi have nice places to visit. You won't be disappointed to visit VN. Keep in mind that every country has cons and pros. |

Who wants to know

It depends on what you're looking for. Vietnam is a country with 4000 years of history. If you're interested in culture, people, food and history. This is a place for you to see. For some people who don't understand Vietnamese history, it wouldn't be good for them. Remember, this is a country that fought with so many intruders and stood up for itself until recently. You can't expect to be a rich country overnight after years of fighting. The same people who in charge of Vietnam are the same people who were strategically fighting to help Vietnam to be independent. Although we Vietnamese people who live abroad may not agree with the political view of the leaders of Vietnam but we're damn proud to say that Vietnamese people are resilient, determine, don't give up and we run the country in our own terms.
I don't think any country in the world would last that long as Vietnam did. We're still on the map. We still speak our language. We are slowly but surely building our country with the best of what we have and I can say no other country would want to mess with Vietnam. |
