What is a good gift for Tet for parents?

Since my husband and I are married now, I know we have to give money to the kids in our family (for Tet) but what type of gift should we give our parents? (we're a little too Americanized for our culture...)

Suggestion #1 is to ignore bitter selfish oafs who have utterly NO understanding of the culture. To support ones family is less an obligation than a privilege. American's tend to selfishness and predatory greed. The gracious gifting of cash is to enrich the whole of the family, but most importantly to acknowledge the many sacrifices made by ones elders to provide for their children and their own elders.
Unlike the putz who feels it is a "nation of takers" ( odd since he feels cheated that HE doesn't get to take!) it is a culture of rich, friendly generosity and great graciousness in receiving.
Go to Lowes garden dept or greenhouse store. See if there is a dwarf peachtree, apricot or kumquat beginning to bud or in bloom. This will be greatly appreciated and convey good luck o the recipient. A miniature water melon, perfect mango, flawless Asian pears are all very appropriate and thoughtful. Above all else is the gift of your obvious great pleasure to be in the company of those to whom you come to wish happy new year. No harsh words, no hint of disagreement, an obvious delight in all things bodes well for the coming year. In other words the best gift is your happiness to have the company of those you visit.

Bullion and Cash is acceptable. And I promise you this. It won't matter how much you give, or how hard you work for your money, it will not be enough. It never is. I'm in my wife's village at the moment and I cannot wait for this ordeal to finish. This year its going to cost me around 20 million for food, gifts and money for the extended family. Do you know what I'll receive in return? The same as I got for the last 6 Tets. Zip, Zilch, Zero. Not even a card. Its a nation of receivers, not givers.
