Everything in VN is cheap and best quality for the price you paying, it's a BARGAIN.

a traditional vitnamese dress .. i forgot how to spell in viet: something along the lines of 'ao yai' roughly translated 'long dress' they are very pretty and exquisite patterns ^^

I guess it depends on what you like.
There are these bamboo dragonflies that are petty cool - they balance from the very tip of a small "head" and it doesn't seem possible just looking at them. You have to see them and try it to understand. Everyone I have given one to has really liked them.

I received a really nice komono-style housecoat from a friend. Incredible embroidery on silk. You can also get some incredible emboidery to frame and hang on a wall for example.
There is so much neat stuff here, you shouldn't have any problem finding things that you would like to buy.
Try some o mai -candied fruit. Very tasty and all different kinds. |

Every time I go I always pick up Wooden Inlaid Wall Hanging and Inlaid Containers. For the wall hanging there are many that are popular (Four Seasons, Mother of Pearl, Cranes and The 3 Buddhist)
Another fav of mine is the Cobra and Scorpion wine.
The ao dai is a popular dress in Vietnam for the females.
Also the shoes are good to and are really cheap, but its hard finding your size there, lol.
The Drinks are good to. You get to try a different type of Red Bull, Birds Nest is one of my fav, and the Iced Coffee cà phê sữa đá (it's a french drip coffee with milk cream and ice.) Very Good.
For food the Pho is so much better then in the states. And all the sea food is fresh.
For snacks, go for the fruit. They all look interestin but all taste good. |
