I stayed in Asia Paradise on Trieu Phu street which is five minutes walk to the beach, and it was about 20$ US a night with the window facing the ocean so great for sunrise and sunset. But in general, there are many hotels that are nice and affordable, use lonely Planet to check it out.

You can stay at Whale Island Resort Add: 2 Me Linh - Nha Trang or Sunrise Beach Resort. Add: 12 Tran Phu Boulevard. The price is reasonable. Another is Vinpear Resort & Spa . Add : Hon Tre Island. It is more expensive. anna mandara, right on the water, about $150 per night is the only resort type place in nha trang.. you can stay in any number of hotels across the street from the beach for & 15 on up.. no reservation required except during "tet" when all of viet nam is over crowded..ps the water in nha trang , alas all viet nam .. is not nearly as clean as it appears..i dread the thought od what the bacteria level is... i stopped swimming there years ago a i've spent less days in sick bed as a result of staying on dry land..
id you like to party , nha trang is the place, no question, but i recomend a nice mini hotel a cpl of blocks from the beach, no amenities, but clean and safe and cheap.. you'll be out and about all day anyway...no need to be at a resort , but is thats your thing, go down to "lousiane" on the beach , sit by the pool /bar , nice resturant freat service, you'll think you at a resort..

There are hundreds of hotels in Nha Trang all with varying quality , the more you pay the more you get . I think you are defeating the object a bit if you want accommodation with a resort feel , "Nha Trang" is a great place to relax and wander and try different places every day . You can get a very good hotel clean and excellent service without the frills of a Pool & Bar as you do not need them services . There are many beach front clubs open all day to anyone and you will find it better to check these out . I used to always get flights only and book hotels when i got there . If there are a few of you this could be an ideal suggestion as you will definitely get reductions .Read the "Rough Guide To Vietnam" it is well worth the read and will allay any fears you have . Many years ago in Nha Trang there was a lady called "Mama Hahn" a true legend (ask the locals when you get there) and she used to operate a famous boat trip . Drink , get stoned , swim , party that was a real ball (last i heard the Police had arrested her and she had had to move). Its still fun and you will enjoy the place . Have a Good time.
