What is the best time of year to visit Vietnam?

April is my favorite time to visit the Vietnam. The weather is nice and the temperature isn't to hot.
January and Febuary are a fun time to go because of the Tet Holiday time.
September, October & first of November are not a good time because of Typhoons and lots of rain.
We usually go during the hot humid June and July; because our daughter is out of school at that time. Then it is time to take the family and go to the beach and enjoy the great seafood and the warm water. But anytime you go you will have a good time.

Without irrelevant political commentary, it really depends on which part of the country you want to go. I've been in Nov-Dec, and it was great... not as humid (still warm in the South), didn't rain too much. Up north, it will actually get "chilly" (60-70's at night).

I've also been in June, and THAT was HOT and HUMID.

Never experienced monsoon season, but lots of rain always suck. Then again, it is a warm rain, it quite refreshing if you want to go play.

late December (Christmas season) or Jan/Feb, *before* the Lunar New Year. Don't schedule your trip *during* the Lunar New Year, as they would close many shops during the first two/three days of Lunar New Year, and you wouldn't find many things to do during these days.

I ought to say that the best time to visit Vietnam is around Nov. & Dec. based on my personal experience. The weather at this time is breezily cool & humidless. You may find people wear their favorite windbreakers & sweaters on the streets - a trend that is Ã -la-mode for these closing months of the year. On the night of Sept. 24th, the streets leading towards Äá»©c BÃ Church or TÃ¢n Äá»‹nh Church in central Saigon are packed with motor-scooters & all-night party-goers (mostly youngsters) celebrating Christmas Eve regardless of their religious backgrounds. It will be remarkably fun for anyone to be there & witness it, or just blend in & participate in the many various festivities. I always love to be there during this time of the year.
During Tet is also nice, however, everything is unreasonably expensive; Plus, most shops are closed for the holidays, awaiting to re-open only on a particular superstitiously chosen "good day" on the lunar calendar. The weather isn't favorable either because of the heat & humidity.

best time is chirstmas and new year if you can

otherwise , come to VN at vietnam tranditional new year ( called " TET" ) in 28th January 2007 . it is a big holiday and you'll see alot of exiting there

Definitely not Monsoon season. I hear it's beautiful, though. U.S. veterans are actually received generally well who visit again after that fifteen year tragedy we embarked on.

I think there ate three great times to visit VN:
*in winter :(november , december ) the weather is great in this time , it's cool. 'cos this is the time of the end of year, so HCM city is good for shoping this time. and u can enjoy Chrismast and New Year, the streets are so crowded and animated.
* in spring:(january & february) this is a special time in VN, 'cos this is Lunar New Year time ( traditional Tet of Vietnamese)
* And in summer, u can go to beach along VN, the seafood so great.
