Phu quoc is all about the beach. There are many different choices, from long white sand half moons to jagged rocky coastlines. Diving, boating and just about any thing else you can think of that is water oriented. My favorite is bai Sao which is on the south end of the island. Perfect water and about a mile of white sand. There are only a couple of small guest houses and cafes here but it is truly idyllic.
The beach area that is closest to the airport has the most hotels, restaurants etc. and a couple of good beach bars. Last year there was a good disco in this area but I have heard that it was closed by the govt. Could be wrong about that and a lot happens in a year. so check it out. There is a real good German place in this area where all the xpats hang out. Always good for information and the food is great.
there are lots of trails and the dirt roads that circle the island are always a kick. Lots to do here but it is still pretty rural compared to Kho Samui and the Thai islands. Have fun!
