What to Pack for Vietnam in March/April?

I know the climate can be different from north to south, and I'm starting in Siagon and working my way up to Sapa and the North. What should I pack??? How cold will in be in the North in mid-April?
Do I need a jacket? A fleece??

PS - I live in the Canadain Prairies, so am used to very cold winters....so what's called "cold" in the North of Vietnam probably still isn't very cold to me ;-)

Thanks for all your help!!

Pack very lightly and purchase a new wardrobe when you get there , things are so cheap and of a very good quality that you will wish you had more space in luggage when you come to leave . I literally used to arrive arrive with hand luggage and what i stood up in . As you say it wont be cold to you but nights in the North can get cold , but don"t worry you will get all you need on your travels . Try including Hoi An in your itinerary the clothing is amazing and so cheap , made to measure clothing will be sorted for you within 24 hours .

Ok.

HCMC (Saigon) has basically three seasons:

Hot - 75 F (night time) 90's daytime
Hot & wet
Hotter than Hell (38 - 41 C (100 - 110 F)

Hanoi is nice in March / April, maybe 55 - 70 F. Nighttime CAN get down to around 45 - 50 F at times, especially in early March.

Sa Pa gets snow sometimes in winter, but during March / April is should be light jacket weather. Think about it this way, you can always BUY a nice jacket for a cheap price and give it to your guide afterward or some poor person before you leave.

Hope this helped.
