Where does one place a classified ad in english in vietnam from the U.S.?
I would like to view classified ads( in english) to purchase a scooter or motor bike, also place an ad to find a companion to translate and travel with for a couple months while I visit vietnam this spring. Where would one look? Thank's
google vietnam news and you'll get at least three english papers. vietnam news, thanhtien news and i think the fiancial times. you might have better luck e-mailing the american chamber of commerce in ho chi minh city.
to be honest, i don't think you'll have much luck with the papers. vietnamese people read vietnamese news papers. they usually only advertise rental property in the english ones.
try yahoo chat asia or any of the other asian/vietnamese chat sites.
concerning the motor bike. check with the viet embassy or consulate to make sure that you can get a plate for it. you can't ride without a licence plate and i'm not sure how a foreinger would get one (our bikes were registered by my wife).
the good news is that you can buy a rebuilt honda for less than two hundred american at any used bike shop and they are very sturdy. even if it breaks down it won't cost much to fix.
probably the easiest way to find the answers you want is to ask a viet friend or acquaintence where they book their travel from. 99% of the time it will be a viet owned agency. i've been using mine for years and they've helped me with everything from tickets and visas, marriage paperwork and even starting our business.
good luck
