Most shops and larger restaurants will accept USD, however for smaller businesses you should use VND.
There are plenty of Money Exchange places, banks etc around town which will change most currencies with out question.
ATM's are also everywhere enabling you to withdraw VND easily with Visa / Cirrus ATM Cards.
Currently the exchange rates are (approx)
1USD = 16100VND
1AUD = 12200VND
1GBP = 31000VND.

The Vn Dong of course and the US dollar is excepted almost everywhere. We usually use the dollar for big purchases or exchange it into Dong by going to Jewelry stores. Other money can be exchanged at Vn Banks. Easy. Cheers.
