i travel to vietnam regularly and will be there on march 12, i stay in budget hotels because i know the places to stay, in hcm city i pay maximum of $20usd. if you want to stay in luxury like 4star plus, i use this website if im not sure about hotels in a new country to me, www.wotif.com its a great company that ive used many many times. if you check it out you will see many cheap 4star hotel prices in vietnam, enjoy your vietnam experience, you will love it |

if you consider what you're getting, think of it, a 4-5 star hotel in any other country would be double the price.
I have been to Saigon and I can tell you that the hotels that are 5 star are, the very best in the whole country! I've stayed at 2 star hotels in VN for $28/ night with no bugs or anything that would make you feel uncomfortable.
I know that in Toronto, a comparible 5 star hotel would be 3 or 4 times the price for the same type of room. Also, out of the whole of VN, Saigon is where the money is and where people with money go. If you are in that class of people, $200 is a steal.......think about it. |

I've looked into this, too, cause I'm going to Vietnam in March. I could be wrong, but my understanding is that although Vietnam is a cheap country to travel through, in major cities like Ho Chi Minh, they know they can get the high rates so they charge them - they know people are willing to pay, in other words.
When I went to Cuba, I went cheap and booked 2-star kinda places, and I thought I was sooo smart and then there were bugs in the beds and water leaking and I was boiling to death and now I think it's my vacation it's worth being comfy so I'm paying for the more expensive hotels in Vietnam....
...but I'm not paying 200 a night! I booked a trip through a travel group, and maybe it's a bit cheaper because of that. |
