You should take the tour guider's advice. Do not drive the motorbike if you are a tourist.

1. There are hardly any traffic laws there.

2. People there drives like a maniac!!!!, Men & Women.

3. The air is very dusty and snogged.

4. If you get pulled over by a street police, and you don't have a license, they will take your motorbike. Unless you slipped in $500,000 viet Dong.

5. For your own safety, take the taxi, and enjoy your stay in Vietnam.

If you really familiar with the motorbike, and know how to maneuver the bike, then there should be any problem, just go with the traffic and follow the people ahead of you.

because they could potentially drive you to a sketched out place and rob you, kill you, rape you.

i grew up up there. it wasn't as bad when i was there but now it's full of sketch bags because the cities are getting so big.

because to be honest, traffic in Vietnam is horrible. it's extremely dangerous for you if you ride motorbike yourself to travel.
but you know, I think it's just pretty damn cool to ride motorbike on street and feel the wind blowing in your hair...
if you want to travel by motorbike, find someone trustable to ride you. xe ôm is OK too. just ask them to ride carefully and don't forget to bargain.
