Will i lose or gain weight when i go to vietnam this summer? |
i am going for about a month (june 8 - july 5) and i hear that most people lose weight when they go. I am vietnamese myself and i am already have a pretty low body fat index. initially, i feel as if im going to gain weight because of all the yummy cheap food that im going to be eating, but i dont know, what do you think?

I posted a question a few days about loosing weight while in Vietnam. You should check it out, because there are some good answers that have been posted.
I'm half Vietnamese, so only half of me is fat (I'm kidding). I lost 20 lbs in each of my last two trips there (I gained much of it back between the trips and since I returned from my last trip).
You may find that the Vietnamese here are fatter than the Vietnamese in Vietnam even if we eat basically the same kind of foods. I ate like a pig when I was in Vietnam, because Vietnamese foods that I consider delicacies here are in abundance there. Yet, I still lost a lot of weight. It's not just the food as but also the lifestyle there. You're going to do a lot more physical exercise by just being there. You will do a lot of walking and climbing stairs. If you don't loose a lot of weight, you're still going to come back with much better muscle tone.
If you want to gain weight, then stick around Saigon because Saigon has more Western style foods than the rest of the country. Pizza is my wife's favorite food, and there's dozens of pizza joints in Saigon. if that doesn't work then spend a lot of time drinking beer at the closest bia hoi.

If you are used to a tropical climate in the summer you will probably gain weight with all the good food. If you are not used to the climate you might lose some of your appitite. You will still enjoy the wonderful food; but eat less. Have a good time.
We will be there in 24 days and I can't hardly wait. Cheers. |
