Garuda, along with 50 other Indonesian airlines, has been banned from next week after European Union air safety experts deemed the airlines to be unsafe.
The decision comes after four recent crashes in Indonesia, including one in Yogyakarta in March in which 21 people died, including five Australians.
Garuda has not flown to Europe since 2004, but planned to resume flights next year.
Two representatives from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority have been dispatched from Canberra to meet with Indonesian officials in Jakarta.
CASA confirmed yesterday there was no plan as yet to ban Garuda, which operates 16 services a week to Bali and Jakarta from Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Darwin.
"We'll be asking the EU aviation authorities for the basis of their decision ... (and) meeting with the Indonesians to discuss safety," CASA spokesman Peter Gibson said.
