Kings Island, known as the Middelgrundsfortet, is the largest artificial island in the world, located 15 minutes from the Danish capital, Copenhagen. It was created in 1890 by King Christian IX and 8 years is in private proprietary, while it was heavily restored.
For a piece of land of 70,000 square meters, the owner asked about 14 million dollars, reports Business Insider. Over 15,000 square meters of the island are built, the buildings being used for military purposes until 2003. The island is equipped with a mini-port, where ships, both private and commercial, can dock.
The fortress is protected as a heritage site because of the great cultural and historical value as a preserved piece of coastal defense, with rare species of plants and animals found in the area. In recent years, the fort was used as a hotel and conference space, many companies used the facilities building, which was rehabilitated and contains 200 rooms, seminar rooms, a modern restaurant, a night club, bar and a pool. Because access to the island is very easy with boat or helicopter, it can be used for holidays and picnics. The island also features a helipad approved and registered as aerodrome.
